Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS) 2018 intake is now closed.
The Australia Awards Sri Lanka office will be closed from Monday 15th until Friday 19th May.

For what sectors are Scholarships available?

Australia Awards Scholarships are offered to applicants from Sri Lanka for study at Master’s level in one of the priority fields of study. The study can be undertaken by coursework or by research, or a combination of the two. However, the maximum duration that DFAT will support a Master’s degree program is for two years.

Australia Awards Scholarships are open to eligible applicants from all sectors (public, private and corporate sectors including national NGOs and autonomous agencies) and are offered on the basis of merit, transparency and equal access. Applications are strongly encouraged from eligible women, members of ethnic communities, persons with a disability and people from Northern, Eastern, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces.

What fields of study are available for Intake 2018?

Australia’s international development assistance in Sri Lanka aims to develop human resource capacity and leadership skills in identified priority sectors. The priority fields of study identified for Intake 2018 reflect the development needs of Sri Lanka in these priority sectors.

Will there be Information Sessions for applicants?

Information sessions will be conducted between 6 February 2017 and 7 April 2017 to clarify queries from potential applicants. The objective of the information sessions is to ensure applicants have full and accurate information to enable them to lodge eligible and high quality applications.

Can I take my family with me?

Awardees considering taking dependents to Australia are strongly encouraged to travel to Australia on their own for at least the first six months to attend the Introductory Academic Program and become established in their studies, without the distraction of family responsibilities. The Australian Government does not provide any financial or other support for the dependents of awardees.
