For what sectors are Scholarships available?
Australia Awards Scholarships are provided to both the government and private/corporate sectors in bilaterally agreed priority development sectors in order to develop the Maldives’ human resource capacity. The priority development sectors align with the objectives of Australia's bilateral and regional aid programs, and the four priority development sectors approved for study commencing in 2019 are:
Applicants are free to nominate any Master’s degree level course, provided they can justify how this course fits within one of the priority development sectors listed above. As a part of the selection process, the assessors will determine the relevance of applicants’ chosen field of study to the priority sectors listed above as well as to the broader development objectives of the Program. The Master’s degree study program can be undertaken by coursework or by research, or a combination of the two. However, the maximum duration that DFAT will support a Master’s degree program is for two years.
Applicants are encouraged to carefully consider study program and institution preferences before applying. The Australian Government will not allow any changes to these after the application closing date.
